Training materials have been redesigned to focus on the essential skills that people need to have when dealing with an emergency situation. Available in new digital format, the training materials are rapidly updated as new research on better methods of care emerges. Participants of Red Cross programs will now have access to our Comprehensive Guide to First Aid & CPR online, and to a free download of our First Aid app.

Online Course Options

The Canadian Red Cross offers a number of online course options, which can be used to encourage training during this time. Participants looking to take a blended first aid course or first aid recertification coursein the future can take the time now to complete the online component.

To support this option, we are offering the online component of our Standard First Aid, Emergency First Aid, and CPR courses as separate stand-alone courses. These are normally offered as part of our blended delivery programs.

The online component will issue a confirmation of completion certificate which is valid for 90 days. Completion of this online training will also appear in the user’s profile and can be verified by their employer.

Participants will be required to complete the in-person training component within 90 days of completing the online component, after which they will be issued three-year certification. With many individuals postponing in-person training, this will provide a solution to continue supporting education in the short term.

Workplace Courses

Gold Cross First Aid programs meet provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards legislative requirements for workplace first aid training. We provide First Aid/CPR  training programs developed to ensure full compliance with federal and provincial legislation in the province of Ontario. Some courses are available in online or blended learning options.

In Ontario workplace first aid requirements are outlined by the WSIB in Regulation 1101.  This regulation summarizes the type of certificate, as well as the first aid supplies required by an employer based on the number of employees per shift.

First Aid & CPR training is required for most employees in the workplace. Our courses are WSIB compliant and meet federal and provincial occupational health and safety legislation. We offer training on-site at your location. Red Cross certificates are valid for 3 years from course completion.
